America

Michael Pachos is a Managing Director and the Head of Samsung Ventures America, East Coast.
He joined Samsung in 2008 as part of the Global Strategy Group in the Chairman's Office. Michael then joined Samsung Ventures in 2009. Michael transferred from Seoul to Silicon Valley in 2013.
Prior to Wharton, Michael co-founded the network security startup Global Velocity. Michael also was a CPU architect on several DEC Alpha and Intel Itanium processors.
Michael has an MBA from Wharton and a BS in Computer Engineering from WashU. In his spare time Michael enjoys sailing and visiting his hometown of NYC and adopted hometown of Seoul.

Thomas Jueng is a Managing Director at Samsung Ventures America.
He joined Samsung Ventures in 2012 and focuses on investments in mobile platform, AI, IoT, digital media & content, and enterprise solution.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures, Thomas worked in Benex investment, a private equity in Korea.
Before Benex investment, he worked at SK Telecom in global strategy planning team and investment team. Thomas led deals in the US, China, Vietnam, and Korea mainly focusing on mobile and internet.
Before SK Telecom, Thomas worked at a RF repeater system company, MTI Co., Ltd. as a RF, S/W engineer. Thomas also co-founded two start-ups, a social network service website, win520.com in Beijing, China, and an outdoor digital signage company, Intercity Networks in Korea and he was an early member of Chinese mobile device company, Xiaomi.
Thomas earned his M.B.A. at the Wharton School and received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University.

Jihong Kim is a Managing Director at Samsung Ventures America.
He joined SVA in 2012 and focuses on software, services, mobile and digital media.
Jihong’s most recent exits include BigCommerce (IPO), Pluto TV (acquired by Viacom), and Centrify Corporation (acquired by Thoma Bravo).
Prior to joiningSamsung Ventures, Jihong worked at a global long-short equity fund as a research analyst (SFG), in investment banking(HSBC, JMP) as well as in management consulting (PwC).
He started his career as a software engineer at Lucent Technologies and had also workedas an early member of start-ups at nDosa and CommASIC (acquired by Freescale).
Jihong received an MBA as well as B.S. in EECS from the University of California at Berkeley..

Liam Ahn is a Principal at Samsung Ventures America.
He joined Samsung Ventures’Menlo Park office in 2017 and Liam is responsible for investments in AR/VR and in display technologies that will power next generation devices including foldable phones, AR glasses, holographic TV’s and whatevercomes next.
Prior to Samsung Ventures, he worked at MindMeld (acquired by Cisco), a conversational AI startup creating the next generation of chat and voice assistants.
Previously, Liam managed Fortune 500 accounts at Samsung Electronics HQ.

Ji Hoon joined Samsung Ventures in 2019, and focuses on investments in Fintech, Insurtech and Digital Health industry.
He joined Samsung Ventures’ Menlo Park office in 2019.
Before joining Samsung Ventures, Ji Hoon worked at Moon Capital in New York by covering global TMT, Consumers, and Financials for public/private equities.
Previously he oversawgrowth equity portfolios as in Industrial Bank of Korea Asset Management as a portfolio manager.
Ji Hoon managed small-cap and IPO equities in Woori Asset Management.
He covered Tech, Auto, and Healthcare sector in Woori Credit Suisse Asset Management as aninvestment analyst.
Ji Hoon earned his MBA degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a BA degree from Korea University.

He joined Samsung Ventures in 2020 and he is responsible for managing Samsung’s investments in Semiconductor devices, IP and components.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures, Siddharth worked in Platform Architecture at Apple responsiblefor early stage technology investigations for enhancing the Apple consumer product lines, including iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook and Apple TV.
Prior to Apple, Siddharth was an ASIC engineer at Maxim Integrated, where he helped build the company’s first smartgrid communication solutions. Siddharth earned his MBA from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a B-Tech in Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.

David is a Managing Director at Samsung Ventures America.
David is responsible for investments in semiconductors, enterprise solutions, AI related S/W & H/W technologies, and consumer IT devices.
Looking for founders and investors who are ready to leverage Samsung partnership to bring their product to market with scale.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in 2014 based in HQ in Korea, David worked at Morgan Stanley (NY and Hong Kong) and RBS (Singapore) on the macro trading desks.
He founded essayvision.com, the leading ecommerce editing marketplace by 2009. David received B.Sc. in Finance and Economics from Wharton.

India

Snehal is the head of Samsung Ventures India.
He brings over 18 years of Technology & biz development experience in Consumer Electronics and Defence Industry. He initially joined Samsung R&D in 2005 and has undertaken variety of roles in Technology & Product planning, Open Innovation, and Technology Incubation & IP Management.
Amongst his many endeavours, Snehal was instrumental in leading DTV roll out and adoption in Asia Pacific & MENA regions. He directly led Broadcast standardization discussions with many government standard bodies (Singapore, Australia, India). Snehal was instrumental in Samsung's “Make for India” initiatives for CE Biz and in setting up Samsung India’s Academia collaboration with Top IITs & esteemed research Institutes.
Prior to Samsung, Snehal had engineering experience in Defence Industry for Armament Research & Development Establishment of Ministry of Defence, India. Snehal work involved development of HW & Device Drivers for TI DSP Chipsets, Motorola Power PC, ARM / MIPS Core.
Snehal holds an B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication & has 4 patents to his name.

Lee Yu is a Business Strategy Manager at Samsung Ventures India.
Prior to Samsung, Lee worked at POSCO International leading a new business development team to find out business opportunities & develop a business model in India focused on mobility, green energy, and the consumer service sector.
Lee worked at Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to organizing the Korea-India Investment Relations in India.
For Korean company, introduced promising business opportunities in India for brownfield investment as well as greenfield investment into various manufacturing sectors like automobile, electric/electronics, automation.
Lee holds a Master in East Asia Studies, specialized in Indian Study from Sogang Graduate School of International Studies & Bachelor in International Relations from University of Seoul.

Japan

Lee Mingue is the Head of Samsung Ventures Japan.
He joined Samsung Ventures in 2023. Min-geun began his career as a venture capitalist for SBI holdings and later transferred to SBI investment Japan headquarters.
He made investment deals with various Japanese start-up companies ranging from AI tech, IT services, blockchain, entertainment industry, and many others.
In 2022, his exits reached over ¥10 billion, becoming the first Korean to be ranked in the midas list of Forbes Japan as top 5 Japan's most influential venture capitalists.
Having spent the last 15 years in Japan, he has a deep understanding of Japanese culture and business trends. As the head of Japan branch, he works as a bridge between Samsung and local start-ups.

Jaeyoung Shin is the Head of Samsung Ventures China.
He joined Samsung Ventures China Beijing office at March in 2014, prior to moving to Beijing office, he worked at Samsung Ventures head quarter in Seoul Korea for more than 4 years. He has invested in semiconductor industry in various countries including US, UK and China.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures in early 2010, he worked at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Korea from early 2005 and worked as a researcher in Fuel Cell Lab (PEMFC), also has worked as a R&D staff of Fuel Cell Lab(SOFC) at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany
Jaeyoung grew up in Seoul and Singapore, earned Master in mechanical engineering from Aachen University of Applied Science Germany, and attended Shanghai Tongji University China for the same major.

Jingyi (Vanessa) Wang is a Managing Director at Samsung Ventures China.
She joined Samsung Ventures in 2015.
Prior to joining Samsung Ventures, Vanessa worked in Samsung’s Global Strategy Group in Seoul and mainly involved with projects such as global new product development, mobile growth strategy in China, and partnership strategy with major Chinese internet players. Before Samsung, Vanessa has 5-year working experience in multiple financial sectors from investment banking to private equity investment.
Vanessa is a CFA charterholder. She holds an MBA from INSEAD and completed her BBA at School of Economics and Management in Tsinghua University in China.

Chris Hong Liu is a Principal at Samsung Ventures China.
Chris’s journey at Samsung starts in 2015 from Samsung Global Strategy Group (GSG), where he worked on a wide variety of technology related projects for Samsung Mobile, Samsung VD, and Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance.
After GSG, Chris left Korea shortly to first serve as the Chief of Staff at Lenovo and then he joined JD.com’s mobile advertising department to help manage JD’s ~$3 bn+ advertising P&L.
Chris recently joined Samsung Ventures in 2019 and his focuses are technology & information services, AIoT, and FinTech.
Chris holds MBA from Columbia Business School. He is a Fellow of Society of Actuaries and also passed all three CFA exams (not chart holder).

Weilan Dou is an Assistant Manager at Samsung Venture China.
She Joined SVC in May 2015 in charge of China office operation and portfolio management.
Befor joining SVC, She worked at Hyundai Group as operation assistant.

Hwaseok Patrik Kim is a Principal at Samsung Ventures.
He joined Samsung Ventures Israel office in 2019 and Patrick is responsible for investments in Fintech, Insuretech, Enterprise SW solutions including cybersecurity and new generation sensor technologies.
Prior to joiningSamsung Ventures, he worked at LG Technology Center in Israel as a technology cooperation manager, scouting for Automotive and Service related startups in Israel.

Sung Sik conducts SVIC's investments in Manufacturing Process technology, including Semiconductor, Display and Battery.
He brings 15 years of operational and investment experience to his role. He initially joined Samsung Electronics’s Mobile Business in 2004 as an Engineer and Marketer and spent some time in Management Consulting and Business Development role in various companies.

Petros is a Director at Samsung Ventures Europe based in London.
Having joined in 2023, Petros is responsible for sourcing and executing strategic investments across Europe, while also supporting portfolio companies in their growth.
Petros has a diverse background spanning venture capital, consulting and research.
Before joining Samsung, Petros led the London office of Vickers Venture Partners, a global deeptech and lifesciences venture fund investing in disruptive IP-rich start-ups.
Prior to that, his career was in strategy consulting and data science, most recently serving as a Senior Data Science consultant at Monitor Deloitte in London.
Petros holds a doctorate from the University of Cambridge in the field of Nanophotonics (Physics) and a masters in Physics from the University of Bristol.
